The school year has officially rolled around. Ahh, what?! I have absolutely no clue how I’ve made it to senior year. God is up to somethin’, that is for sure. I have spent lots of time praying over senior year for my friends & myself, and I am trying to commit myself to making it a great, not-so-stressful year (let’s hope it doesn’t turn into a repeat of junior year!)
I really just wanted to take some time to get my thoughts out and share what my heart is feeling at the moment. God has pretty neat things to share with us when we take time to listen and allow Him in our lives.
Start looking for answers in the right places. For me, turning to God for help and guidance does not always come naturally. I think I can figure things out on my own. Truthfully, we are not meant to know all of the answers right away. God knows & if you are willing to trust in His plans, you will figure it out when you are meant to. When God is in control, things will piece themselves together most beautiully. Trust in those around you & think about big decisions, but at the end of the day, listen to the Lord.
You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. – Proverbs 19:21
I am absolutely in awe of the things that Jesus is capable of doing in our lives. Faith fuels the fire, passion, and love we all need to show. By ourselves, we are imperfect. Adding Jesus into the mix won’t make us perfect, but with Him we can become our best selves. Be on the watch for the work of Jesus in your life. You have been given many more blessings than you realize.
But they who wait upon the Lord will get new strength. They will rise up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weak. -Isaiah 40:31
Can we all just stop wishing away our day, week, year, etc.?! I’ve loved high school so much, but I am so guilty of living for the weekends, breaks, and exciting parts of school/life. Make the most of your Tuesday mornings and Friday nights the same. Life is too short to look past the mundane, in-between parts of life. God granted you this very day for you to do something big and bold.
Don’t long for “the good ole days.” This is not wise. – Ecclesiastes 6:9
Everything happens for a reason. Absolutely everything. This little life mantra of mine has been expecially ringing true for me lately. Back to #3, God REALLY does show us why/what things are meant to be. In my four years of high school, I have changed a lot and gone out on a whim to be apart of different things. Looking back, I cannot believe I had the guts to do some of the things I did, but now I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. Lost friendships, personal rough patches, stress & chaos, times of tragedy, you name it; times get tough. But as life goes on, we begin to understand. God will slowly make the waters we are walking through a little less cloudy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we just have to trust in Him.
Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses. He sets the time for birth and the time for death, the time for planting and the time for pulling up, the time for killing and the time for healing, the time for tearing down and the time for building. He sets the time for sorrow and the time for joy, the time for mourning and the time for dancing, the time for making love and the time for not making love, the time for kissing and the time for not kissing. He sets the time for finding and the time for losing, the time for saving and the time for throwing away, the time for tearing and the time for mending, the time for silence and the time for talk. He sets the time for love and the time for hate, the time for war and the time for peace. What do we gain from all our work? I know the heavy burdens that God has laid on us. He has set the right time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does. So I realized that all we can do is be happy and do the best we can while we are still alive. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-12
Stop overthinking. Life just really needs to be a whole lot simpler. Love yourself. Do good for others. Learn from your mistakes. Give your heart to the Lord. That will do more good for others than any blog post ever will. God is so present. He wants for us to lean on Him. You are loved. You are worthy. You are His. Give this life you’ve been given your all.
Teach these things and insist everyone learn them. Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. – 1 Timothy 4:11-12
Encouraging & praying for you all to have a super sweet year! Challenge yourself, do the best you can do, & seek God in all that you do.
