I’m gonna take a wild guess & say that you’ve done this before:
Something is happening in your life, big or small, and it seems a little out of your reach. It’s something you would love to reach, but you immediately start thinking about how Sharon is better than you at public speaking, or Vanessa does that all the time & knows better than you. Some way or another, you’re just not feeling like you can do it, or at least do it as well as someone else. YUPPPPP, I’ve been there sis.
Actually, I’m kinda just getting outta there, like as in this week. I’ve been sitting in that camp a lot recently. So if you’ve noticed why I took a little over a week off the gram, there’s your answer. I don’t like to show up as someone who isn’t 1000% genuine, and if I were to hop on and speak a boatload of encouragement and love into this community over the past week, I can assure you that wouldn’t have matched the Grace on the other side of the screen.
Here’s what I wanted to do: Not skip a beat & just “get over” the funky funk I was in.
Funny thought right?! It’s not easy to change your mindset & ACTUALLY believe in yourself.
So here’s what I ACTUALLY did: (because I didn’t want to leave myself in this rut of negativity, hoping to “get over it”)
I gave myself some grace. Like a week of it.
I’ve been leaning into the things & people that push me & taking a huge step back from feeling like I have to prove anything.
The reality of it all is that I don’t have to do it as well as she does. I just have to do it as well as I can. You don’t have to measure up to her. You only have to measure up to you.
You’re in a different lane that leads to a different destination. Don’t try to look over at where her map is going, and then feel defeated when it leads you off the beaten path. Follow yours. Stay true to you. Give yourself grace.
